Enhance Your Skills with Hands-On Workshops at EAPS 2026

Running in parallel with the main Congress sessions on 24-25 September, we are offering a series of hands-on workshops designed to deepen your paediatric expertise and enhance your clinical practice. These workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field, with some focusing on practical, hands-on skills, while others take a more lecture-style approach to impart in-depth knowledge on important paediatric topics.

With limited spaces available, these intimate sessions are designed for professionals who wish to build their capabilities in areas that are critical for today’s healthcare environments.

Pre-registration and payment is required in order to secure your ticket. You can add the workshop while registering for the congress through the registration page.

If you already registered for EAPS 2026 and wish to sign up for a course additionally, you can contact us here.

About the Workshops

The EAPS workshops are aimed at paediatricians of all subspecialties. They are led by a team of four paediatric intensivists and emergency doctors who are experts in POCUS, as well as a paediatric cardiologist.

  • Organisers: Lea Linglart, Vladimir Cousin, Luc Morin, Jordi Miatello, Ramy Charbel
  • Equipment: Gaumard Pediatric HAL® S2225 patient simulator + Basic simulation mannequins

The two-day training programme includes interactive lectures and practical sessions involving paediatric patient simulators and basic simulation manikins. Three sessions are available during the conference.

Workshop 01: ECHO Training Workshop – Basic

24 September 2026, 10:00-17:00

The Basic ECHO Workshop is designed to introduce participants to fundamental echocardiographic techniques, including image acquisition, interpretation, and understanding cardiac anatomy. It aims to equip attendees with the foundational skills necessary for effective use of echocardiography in clinical settings.

Early Rate (until 18 August 2026): 70 EUR  |  Late Rate (after 18 August): 90 EUR

Workshop 02: ECHO Training Workshop – Advanced

25 September 2026, 08:00-10:30

The Advanced ECHO Workshop builds on these basics, delving deeper into complex assessments such as haemodynamic evaluation, advanced Doppler techniques, and interpretation of challenging cases. Participants will gain confidence in handling sophisticated equipment and making nuanced clinical decisions based on echocardiographic findings.

Early Rate (until 18 August 2026): 50 EUR  |  Late Rate (after 18 August): 70 EUR

Workshop 02: Procedural Workshop

25 September 2026, 14:30-17:30

The Procedural Workshop emphasises hands-on skills under ultrasound guidance. Key procedures covered include performing lumbar punctures, measuring cerebrospinal fluid pressure, intrathecal injections, and ultrasound-guided peripheral vascular access. Attendees will learn to identify vascular anatomy, select suitable ultrasound equipment, acquire and interpret real-time images, perform dynamic cannulation, and minimise complications. Together, these workshops provide a comprehensive educational experience, blending theoretical knowledge with practical expertise, and are tailored to meet the needs of clinicians looking to advance their proficiency in echocardiography and procedural ultrasound techniques.

Early Rate (until 18 August 2026): 50 EUR  |  Late Rate (after 18 August): 70 EUR

Workshops General Objectives

By the end of the workshops, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of paediatric POCUS.
  • Perform focused ultrasound examinations of the lungs, abdomen, heart (including eFAST echo) and brain (via transcranial Doppler imaging).
  • Integrate ultrasound findings into paediatric clinical practice and decision-making.
  • Recognise basic congenital heart defects.
  • Perform ultrasound guided peripheral IV cannulation.
  • Set up an intraosseous device.
  • Perform a lumbar puncture (LP) and an intrathecal injection

Pre-Requisites
